Coach Jimmy Carter is the Defensive Coordinator and Associate Head Coach.  He joined the Pirate coaching staff in 2006.

Carter began his coaching career in Wylie where he coached junior high and high school from 1997-99. He later coached two years at Shiloh Christian HS (Arkansas) where the team earned a State Title. He followed with three years at Carrollton Newman Smith before rejoining the Pirates staff in 2006.


Carter also assists with the Pirates track team and teaches science classes. He is an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan and loves to hunt and fish.

Coach Carter grew up in Arkansas and attended Harrisburg High School.  He played football, basketball, and threw shot put in track.  He was an all-district and all- state football player and a State qualifier in the shot put.  Coach Carter attended Arkansas Tech University and was a 4 year letterman in football.  He has a BS in Fish and Wildlife Biology and a BS in Biology Education.

Coach Carter has been married for 22 years to Bobbie who is a principal in Garland ISD and has a son Tanner who will be attending Texas A&M Commerce as a member of the Lion Band.
