John (Joby) B. Focke

Bio

Focke, who joined the Pirates staff in July 2007, came to Wylie after a three-year coaching stint at Mexia HS.

 

He is a 1999 graduate of Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets & Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, earning both a B.A. in History & a B.S. in Political Science. Focke also earned his J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law (San Antonio) in 2003.

 

An All-District athlete in 3 different sports, he was a two-year letter winner in football at Winnsboro HS (1992-94), playing QB, TE and DB. He was also a three-year letterman in basketball (including all-state honors) and earned four letters in baseball. Focke was a walk-on for one season of basketball at Texas A&M.

 

Coach Focke teaches, and is the team lead for, World History at WHS and has been an Asst. Boys Basketball coach and coached the JV & Freshmen Boys Basketball teams for nine years.

 

Focke, who grew up in Mexia (and lived in Pampa, TX for 2 years) before going to HS in Winnsboro and graduating there in 1994, is a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and has resided in Plano since moving to the D/FW Metroplex in 2007.
