Pirates v Eagles

The Pirates and Eagles started Friday with a 0-2 record.  Each team was hungry for a win before starting District play.  Your Pirates had a plan and they executed it well.  They came out mentally and physically confident and ready to take care of business.  The Pirates are working  hard on the little things to continue making it all come together.   We have a bye next week before starting District on 9-26-14 against McKinney here @ Wylie.

First Baptist Wylie Hall of Honor Profile - Kenneth Nall

Kenneth Nall, a respected community leader and lifelong Pirate fan, was inducted into the Wylie Sports Hall of Honor in 2009. Nall graduated in the Wylie High School class of 1963 with letters in Football and Basketball, which he played all four years.  He was Football Tri-captain; All-District Football as a senior; and All-District Basketball his sophomore and junior years.

Being the quarterback of the team, Mr. Nall displayed strong leadership on the team, as he was known as a role model and team leader.   Many of the friendships formed during high school were lifelong relationships that he treasured throughout his years.

For 17 years, he worked as plant manager for Johnston Manufacturing in Wylie prior to purchasing The Wylie Hardware Store that he ran with his brother, Bobby, until he retired in 2003.  Known as a meeting place for Wylie’s finest, they would gather and discuss the weather, community and of course, Pirate Football.  A well respected leader in the community and very generous man, Mr. Nall, continually contributed to the community and Pirate football/sports.

K.C., as he was known by his friends, was one of the most avid Pirate fans.  In 1988, he was given an award for not missing a single Wylie football game in 25 years.  His wife, Mary Ann, said that he had not missed one game for over 35 years.  As his health began to deteriorate, he still attended all the home games.  He could always be found in Row R, Seat 23, of every home game.

Married for 42 years, K.C. wed his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann Groves, (also a Hall of Honor inductee).   They have two daughters, Stacey Cobb (WHS ‘84) and Christi Keisler (WHS ‘88).

“I think he would tell Pirates today to give their all, give 100% in your practices and games; respect your coaches; be proud to represent your school”, shared his wife.  For that was the man, Kenneth Nall was.
