Pirates v Mustangs

It was a tough night for the Pirates as they tried to corral the Mustangs.  Sachse came out to win with them scoring on the first play of the game.

The Pirates made a 25-yard field goal from Junior kicker Brandon Cunningham in the first quarter and then a minute before halftime Senior running back Tristen Clark scored their first touchdown of the season.  Late in the third quarter, Senior quarterback Carsen Cook ran 16 yards for a TD and then runs in for a two-point conversion.

While Sachse struggled with 16 penalties, Wylie struggled with errors, tallying four interceptions and two fumbles.   The Mustangs managed 524 yards to the Pirates’ 292.  The Pirates are Humble yet Hungry and we will BUILD on last night’s game.

Kick Off in 9 minutes

Pirates are Looking GOOD

The Pirates went to Postell Stadium to scrimmage Jesuit tonite and they looked GOOD!  The Pirates worked hard, ran fast, fought for every play and it paid off.. Bring the WALL!

TONIGHT 8/22  Freshmen & JV @  4:30

with VARSITY 6:00

Linebackers are a big strength to our defense this year.  We have Senior Jacob Hunt who had a great Spring and was Defensive Player of the Year for 2013 will be playing inside linebacker.  He is a great defensive leader.  We have Senior Zach Violett who is a solid player and has truly earned his way to a starting position.  Other Inside Linebackers working hard and fighting for playing time are Lorenzo Keck, Sergio Serna, Chris Hoegger.

Outside Linebackers are led by two Seniors, K.C. Akagha and Zach Resurreccion and 2 Juniors, Max Lopez and Nathan Weisser.  All four young men are very talented and make this one of our top positions as far as depth.  Their top strength is their speed and physicality which we will depend on from a defensive standpoint.

Running Backs are led by two Seniors, Romello Keck and Tristen Clark who both carried a majority of the load their Junior year.  We are looking for big things from these two this season.  An area we need to improve on is our running game and both of these men have the ability to do that.  We have Senior Cole Churchwell who is coming back from a Spring injury and is working hard and expected to soon be in the mix; and Sophomore, Eli Smith who had a great Spring and looking good at 2-a-days and could be playing Friday Nights.  He is a young Running Back with a bright future.

Pirates have a lot of depth this year when it comes to Receivers than in past years.  There are two returning starters, Darius Carter who moved from inside to outside and Jordan Whaley who will also play outside.  Darius will bring great leadership qualities to the field this season and Jordan just gets better at every game.  Other Outside Receivers are Jake Little, Lennon Estrada, and Donnie Satchell.

Our Inside Receivers are an inexperienced core of men but they are extremely talented and athletic.  They are led by Austin Pegues, Chris Jordan , Tyrell Mauzy, and Alan Deversivic.  These guys carry the inside load by making big plays and moving the chains.  We have a great core of young receivers backing these guys up fighting for playing time.

O-Line & D-Line

The success of Pirate Football starts up front with the two strengths being the Offensive Line and Defensive Line.  The Linemen are full of confidence having just won the State Linemen Challenge in Abilene.  Both sides of the Line are very powerful and athletic which will help with pass protection and a running game.

The Defensive Line is led by Divine Rockwell, a 2-year starter and Pre-Season All State, who is very strong and fast is supported by Senior Brandon Dotson, Junior Ryan Beattie and Sophomore Taylor Green.  There are several others fighting hard for playing time.  The Defensive front is in great hands as long as they play up to their potential.

The Offensive Line is led by Castin Neumeyer, Rice Commitment, a 3-year starter, who possesses great leadership qualities.  He is supported by Senior Brody Wright, Juniors Sawyer Ulmer, Brendyn Vaughn and Zach Hawks, and Sophomores Steven Sellers and Barry Dubose.   The O-Line is a group of talented young men that are blessed with strength, camaraderie, and are just good at being good men.  AHMO !
